BoingBoing TV just ran this interview with Star Simpson, the MIT student who was arrested at Boston's Logan Airport last year for the crime of wearing a hoodie with a blinking LED device on the front when she picked up a friend at the airport. Simpson was arrested, subjected to a series of court dates, practically disowned by MIT and accused of creating a "hoax device" by the same vigilant Bostonians that went after the Aqua Teen Hunger Force guerilla marketers.
Simpson was sentenced to community service and ordered to give the people of Boston a public apology. As somebody who has plenty of fashion faux-pas to apologize for, I can feel her pain. Stay vigilant for a follow-up article in the next issue of MAKE!
