I wrote about Rebbeca Yaker last year in Extreme Craft when she won the hearts and minds of the Minnesota State Fair with her fetching sock monkey couture dress. She's a regular part of the Extreme Craft Roadshow--there are usually audible gasps of pleasure when I show the slide of her work. She's also an integral member of the St. Paul Craft Mafia. I can only guess that they're fighting an ongoing turf war with the Minneapolis Craft Mafia.
This year's Minnesota State Fair, in addition to featuring state-of-the art fried things (fried Coca-Cola, anyone?), the fair features a retrospective of Yaker's sock monkey work through the years, including the sock monkey chair featured above, sock monkeys in a blender and sock monkeys in a meat grinder.
